Saving Caroline – 2018 CDI Symposium

On Mother’s Day 2018, Caroline was admitted to St. Louis Children’s pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in toxic shock. She was rapidly progressing and was quickly placed on ECMO, an advanced life support technique used for patients with life-threatening heart and/or lung problems. Thanks to her incredible care team at Children’s, Caroline survived over 40 days on ECMO and is now thriving.
